How far ahead of a storm do you pre-treat in Kent?

Usually 12 to 48 hours before snow or freezing rain is forecast. Brine dries on the pavement and stays in place until precipitation starts.

Will rain wash away the pre-treatment?

Heavy rain before a storm can dilute brine, so we time applications around the forecast. When rain is expected first, we skip pre-treatment and rely on post-storm salting instead.

Does anti-icing replace salting after the storm?

No, it reduces it. Pre-treated pavement plows cleaner and needs less salt afterward, but most storms still call for a follow-up treatment on drive lanes and walkways.

Which Kent properties benefit most from pre-treatment?

Properties that must open early, like retail, medical, and office buildings, plus HOA and apartment communities with sloped entrances, shaded walkways, or heavy foot traffic.

Do you provide pre-treatment anti-icing in Kent and nearby areas?

Yes. Our winter routes cover all of Kent, including university-adjacent neighborhoods and Franklin Mills area, plus nearby Brady Lake, Rootstown, Ravenna and the rest of Portage County.

The best time to fight ice in Kent is before the storm starts. New Era Designs applies anti-icing product to parking lots, drive lanes, and walkways ahead of forecast snow and freezing rain, so ice cannot bond to the pavement. Businesses, HOAs, and apartment communities near Kent State University campus and across Portage County use pre-treatment to open faster after storms and use less salt doing it.

Pre-Treatment Anti-Icing in Kent, OH — What You Need to Know

Pre-treatment, also called anti-icing, puts a thin layer of brine or treated material on dry pavement before precipitation arrives. When snow falls, it lands on a surface it cannot stick to, so plows scrape cleaner and less salt is needed afterward. It is most valuable for Kent properties that must be safe at opening time, such as storefronts, medical offices, and apartment entrances, and for sloped or shaded areas that ice over first.

Our Pre-Treatment Anti-Icing Process

We watch the forecast for Kent and Portage County and schedule applications in the window before the storm, usually 12 to 48 hours ahead. Brine is applied with calibrated sprayers to lots, drive lanes, and walkways. If rain is expected to wash the treatment away first, we hold off, adjust the plan, and let you know what changed.

Pre-Treatment Anti-Icing Cost in Kent, OH

Pre-treatment pricing in Kent depends on the area treated and how many storms call for it. Many commercial clients add it to a seasonal contract, and the savings in salt and cleanup time often offset much of the cost. Call (330) 882-7543 to see whether pre-treatment makes sense for your property.
